   “No word or phrase is safe from an Orwellian language-hijacker, and leftists are language-hijackers, as I have been documenting online since 2004.”
   Talk about “language-hijackers” on the Left: Here, we have the story of one Susana Gibson, a Democratic candidate for the Virginia House of Delegates and a married, forty-year-old mother of two young children, who posted “several live webcam shows on the open-access adult streaming website Chaturbate,” during which she engaged in sexual acts with her husband, a willing participant, before almost 6,000 followers on the site, who suggested this or that act, often (as the French say) “les actes sexuel inhabituels,” in exchange for the payment of “tokens” that she would redeem for cash. So, the Gibsons essentially had sex in public for money and now her Republican opponent, having discovered the digital evidence, calls it to the public attention, and—get this—Gibson, playing the victim, decries this as “an illegal invasion of my privacy designed to humiliate me.” I need not point out the laughable hijacking of the word “privacy.” The New York Post has the story: https://nypost.com/2023/09/12/susanna-gibson-blasts-opponents-for-gutter-politics-after-sex-videos-surface/

   If a good grasp of reality (i.e. Truth) is necessary in a polity, in order to maintain freedom therein, and if democracy unleashes lying politicians, and thus makes it harder to discern the Truth, then democracy is the enemy of freedom.
   I am not sure what system would be any better, though.

   Eventually for sure and illiberal democracy even faster. Our Republic is under assault from illiberal democracy. The system can work, it only needs better people.

   (I did not see ANY excess of funerals with my own eyes my own town, during this whole covid episode. Of course the true believers will say that the non-excess was all due to lockdowns and cloth masks, etc etc etc.)
