  2. Sincerely speaking, a large number of inventions and their applications on a massive, industrial scale have become possible thanks to the actions of the U.S. government. The internet, many antibiotics, and countless materials and pharmaceutical products have been directly funded through the American military or research budgets at universities. However, things are much more complex than what ideologues on both sides of the ideological divide suggest.
