The Insanity of the Left: Reparations

For California 'residents.' Given that California is a sanctuary state, those 'residents' will include 'black' illegal aliens. There is a bit of a problem with that.

Should those who reside illegally in the U. S. pay reparations to blacks?  Why not? Don't the illegals benefit from the putative legacy of slavery like everyone else?  On the  other hand, if you think that only the  descendants of slave holders should pay reparations, then we citizens who are are not descended from slave holders are off the hook. None of my ancestors held slaves. Hell, some of them probably were slaves themselves, members of the Spartacus rebellion who ended up crucified along the Via Appia.

And what about the blacks who are descended from blacks who held slaves? Do they get reparations too? And who is black anyway? Rachel Dolezal?  If race is just a social construct, can I re-identify as black and get in on the goodies? If I can identify as a girl and then compete in an all-female athletic event, why can't I identify as black?

There will never be black reparations for slavery. The idea is just too incoherent for implementation. And it perpetuates the victim mentality that keeps blacks on the bottom. Nor should there be reparations for slavery. See the following. Trigger warning! They are exercises in reasoned discourse.

The Vikings kept Irish slaves. Since I am descended from both Vikings and Irish, I just took ten bucks out of one pocket and put it in another pocket.

I live in CA, and I like living here. However, that is one of the items (along with possible forbidding sales of petroleum-powered vehicles) that I am watching, in case property values plummet and I need to sell quickly and move back to my home state. My wife grew up here and trusts the other Californians, more than I do, to come to their senses. I’m not fond of having to follow the news, but when crazy stuff like this is taken seriously, it makes me nervous.

    Joe,
I’ve had a similar thought. Everyone in the world pays every other person in the world $5 and then we’re even.
    Gary,
I’m a native Californian. Left in ’73 and I am sure as hell not going back, not even to visit or attend funerals. I have become accustomed to having the means of defense on my person. Right there is a major reason not to cross the Mighty Colorado Left-coast bound.
Might be time for you to git while the gittins good.

I am glad that this reparation issue is surfacing, since I want to get in line for my payment from the Muslim powers, especially the petroleum-producing states, for my maternal ancestors had to endure Arab rule in Sicily for several centuries(831-1091), and my paternal ancestors suffered the same fate for a shorter time in the city of Bari (847-871). Once I am done with these oppressors, I can turn to the other colonial powers that ruled the Mezzogiorno, the Normans, Angevins, Catalonians, Spanish, and Austrians, for further reparations. Ci sono soldi da fare qui.
Bill, if I am not mistaken, does not your maternal family come from Lazio? If so, you will want to contact the Vatican immediately for any harms that they suffered under Papal rule, and for which, you must still be feeling the terrible effects today. I am sure that Bergoglio, given his political leanings, will respond favorably to your demand.

    Vito,
Ci sono MOLTI soldi da fare qui.
Yes, my mother was born in San Vito Romano which is in the Lazio/Latium administrative region. Sammy the Bull is in Arizona; perhaps he can put some pressure on Bergolio to fork over. https://thecinemaholic.com/where-is-sammy-gravano-now/

All humans need to pay reparations to the blue-green algae, and similar organisms.
