Stripes Urgent Care

On the wall: "By his stripes you shall be made whole." Isaiah 53:5

Curious. I had the good sense not to query the sweet young receptionist about the inscription: Is bloodletting practiced here?

I doubt very many people these days would even be aware of the old meaning of “stripes”, i.e., the bloody effects of a flogging or whipping.

    Right, Malcolm.
And how many would know what ‘Isaiah’ refers to? In the early days of this blog I tangled with a computer science prof who thought the Ten Commandments were sayings of Jesus.
The OT passage from Isaiah is read by Christians as referring to Christ. I have no idea what Jews make of it.
