Make Orwell Fiction Again

Orwell Fiction Again

This from Nancy Pelosi's website (emphasis added):

The Affordable Care Act, signed into law by President Obama in 2010, ensures that all Americans have access to quality, affordable health care and significantly reduces long-term health care costs. This historic legislation, in the league of Social Security and Medicare, will lead to healthier lives, while providing the American people with more liberty to pursue their hopes and dreams.

This is another good example of an Orwellian use of language.  Americans love liberty and so Pelosi, in an attempt to deceive, works 'liberty' into her statement,  advancing a claim of Orwellian absurdity, namely, that limitations on the liberty of individuals and private entities are in reality enhancements of liberty.

War is peace.   Slavery is freedom.  Less liberty is more liberty.  Dependence on government is self-reliance. Fascist thugs are anti-fascist. The Orwellian template: X, which is not Y, is Y.

Democrats Only Pretend to Care About the Integrity of Our Elections

 Election integrity

Here are three very important points. Please pay attention.

1) Barack Obama, you will recall, made light of the suggestion that U. S. elections could be rigged or stolen back in October of 2016.  You can hear his own words here. He and almost everyone else was sure Hillary would win a couple of weeks later. That is what all the pundits were saying, and anyway how could such an obnoxious cretin as Trump who had insulted so many people  possibly become president? When Hillary  lost in the electoral college, lefties couldn't believe it. It shocked them deeply.  You can see the depth of their reaction if you watch the many videos from election night depicting the tears of anguish and the tears of rage.  And so it is very easy to understand how lefties, who never stray from their enclaves, and never sully their precious minds with conservative commentary, and have no contact with the unwashed deplorables who stink of Wal-Mart and the barnyard, could believe that Trump just had to have colluded with the Russians to secure his victory. To their minds, there is no other possible explanation.

I heard Rosie O'Donnell say the other night that she "firmly believed" that Trump's win was due to Russian help.  I don't doubt that Rosie and her fellow travellers firmly believe it in a way that admits of no possible disconfirmation. It has become an idée fixe in their benighted brains.  They can't help it. They see themselves as good people, as progressive, bien-pensant, caring people, on the right side of history. It is simply incomprehensible to them that Trump won fair and square.

The reversal of position from 'no possible rigging' to 'Russian rigging' is very easy to understand: it's all about getting Trump out of office by any means.  The only reason the Dems care about election integrity now when they didn't before is that it aids and abets their drive toward impeachment.

2) Democrats support open borders, sanctuary cities, the sanctuary state of California, and the awarding of the franchise to illegal aliens. All of this is a giant middle finger in the face of the rule of law. Their grand strategy is perfectly obvious: to advance leftism and destroy America as she was founded to be, and to do so  by demographic means. If you don't see that you need the services of that proctologist I mentioned in an earlier post, the one who specializes in head injuries and especially difficult extractions.

3) And then there is the business about photo ID that Dems insanely oppose.  The reason they oppose it is obvious: they intend to make the polling places safe for voter fraud. It is part of their demographic grand strategy.  You will enjoy this YouTube video in which white liberals claim that blacks lack ID and blacks on the street react to the absurd claim.

The Wet Dream of a Blue Wave . . .

. . . is probably not in the offing, the wave not the dream, but we of the Coalition of the Sane must not become complacent.

Here is good advice from Hugh Hewitt.

You might think that the fate of the Dems will be sealed by the appeal to morons of chuckleheads like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.  But take no chances. Charles Cooke comments on the Ocasionalist  here.

If the blue wave should materialize, then Trump has only been buying us time, and the U.S. will continue its death spiral.

The Trouble with Tucker

The trouble with the Tucker Carlson show is that the host is insufficiently judicious as to the number and type of leftists he invites onto his program.  No doubt he is striving to be "fair and balanced," but what typically happens is that Carlson asks some reasonable question of the leftist guest, which the latter evades in order let loose with his reliably incoherent canned spiel, about,  say, all those thousands of people roaming around without photo ID who are 'disenfranchised' — sneer quotes! — by reasonable ID requirements at polling places. Tucker tries without success to bring the knucklehead back to the topic, voices are raised, they talk over each other, and I surf away to a Seinfeld re-run.

These shouting matches are totally unproductive. Besides, they elevate my blood pressure. But when I return from Seinfeld to hear the brilliant and consummately witty analysis of Mark Steyn, or the less brilliant, but solid, contribution of my favorite gun-totin' lesbian, the charming Tammy Bruce, then it is all worthwhile and the old B.P. returns to 'within range.'

Of course, there are people who like to watch unproductive shouting matches. They like to see people fight. So it may well be that ratings would decline if my suggestion were followed.

Tucker needs to realize that the age of productive dialog with political opponents is over in American politics.  Ours is the age of post-consensus politics. Destructive leftists don't need talk, they need defeat. Let's hope it can be achieved politically without resort to, God forbid, the 2A solution. But as every patriot knows, the 2A ain't about hunting.

I now hand off to Bruce Thornton, Ridicule, not Reasoned Debate, is the Best Medicine for Political Cults.

A Lying Deep State Crapweasel to the Very End

And cocky to boot. George Neumayr on Peter Strzok:

The cockiness of Strzok at Thursday’s hearing is a reflection of the immunity that ruling-class mandarins enjoy in liberal Washington. He was testifying from the safety of the deep state and thus knew that he could lie his head off without consequence. How else to explain his unrepentant opening statement, with its blatant anti-Trump special pleading? The statement sounded like it had been written by Rachel Maddow, resting on the lamest and hackiest of MSNBC-style talking points, that “today’s hearing is just another victory notch in Putin’s belt and another milestone in our enemies’ campaign to tear American apart.”

Hats off to Trey Gowdy & Co. for their services to the Republic.

The Rage of the Never-Trumpers: The Case of the Bootless Max Boot

I trust you all know what 'bootless' means in this context. If my trust is misplaced, 'bootless'  has not to do with footwear or the lack thereof. It means useless, ineffectual

Boot's column ends on a spiteful note:

That is why I join Will and other principled conservatives, both current and former Republicans, in rooting for a Democratic takeover of both houses in November. Like postwar Germany and Japan, the Republican Party must be destroyed before it can be rebuilt.

This is childish rage at not getting one's way. It is like biting off one's nose to spite one's face.

No principled conservative could want Democrats in power, especially now when it has been made abundantly clear what they have been aiming at all along.

One conservative principle here is that no nation can exist without enforceable and enforced borders.

Either Boot rejects this principle or he does not. If he does, then he is no conservative. If he does not, then we ought to conclude that he thinks that the principle is something to talk about and write about, but not act upon.  For when a man comes along with the will to act on the principle, Boot and the Beltway Boys get their bow-ties in a knot and shrink back in horror at the man's boorishness and lack of class.

Suppose that the Republican Party is destroyed like postwar German and Japan. Who will rebuild it? Jeb! Bush?  Boot, like George Will, has lost his mental balance.

Early in the piece, Boot characterizes the party under Trump as "white-nationalist."

What is the reasoning here?

Perhaps it goes like this. Trump stands for the rule of law and therefore a secure border. He opposes illegal immigration. Now most of the illegal immigrants are Hispanic. Therefore Trump is a racist.  He has no Constitutionally-grounded reason to secure the border.  He just hates Hispanics and considers them all to be criminals: rapists, drug smugglers, human traffickers, etc.  Not only does he hate Hispanics; he hates all  'people of color.'

And so he is a "white-nationalist!"

The truth, however, is that Trump is an America-Firster. This has nothing to do with "white nationalism" or 'white supremacism' as I explain here

Finally, there is the business of the Supreme Court. The bootless Boot presumably would have preferred Hillary nominations to the high bench.

Dershowitz versus the Dems

 Chris Cathcart writes,

When it's Alan Dershowitz saying this stuff, you'd better believe the Democratic Party is going off the deep end. But it's probably too late to expect much sanity.
“I won’t let the Democrats steal my party from me. I want to regain the center,” Dershowitz told WABC Radio’s “Curtis and Cosby” show, noting that he will remain a Democrat as “as long as there’s some chance the Democratic Party can return to normalcy.”

“I want to make sure that the radical Left, the woman who got elected in the Bronx and Queens to Congress on the Democratic ticket, that they and Sanders and others don’t represent the Democratic Party,” he continued, referring to socialist Ocasio-Cortez who pulled off a shock victory last week against incumbent Democratic Rep. Joseph Crowley.
“I want a fight within the Democratic Party to restore it to the days when it was a great centrist party, when it united people rather than divided people,” he added.

It shows how deranged and self-destructive the Dems have become when they turn on Alan Dershowitz, one of the finest legal minds in the country, a man invariably worth listening to, a Democrat and civil libertarian who voted for Hillary.  He is as intelligent as Nancy Pelosi is stupid, and as decent as Maxine Waters is vile.

When Dershowitz speaks I grab a notebook. Just the other night on Fox he brought up stare decisis and I took note. He discussed in an even-handed way its pros and cons. To listen to Dershowitz is to learn something about the law, while to listen to Pelosi is to learn something about her addled mental state.

Will the Democrat Party return to normalcy? I don't think so. It will be interesting to see how long Professor Dershowitz remains a Dem.

Trump Should Nominate Amy Barrett

Steve Cortes provides four reasons.

I offer a fifth: Barrett is of the female persuasion. Justice Bork was easy to bork: he was stern of visage and appeared mean to many. The borking of the sweet and amiable Barrett will make the Dems look bad and expose them for what they are: bent upon power by any means, and especially vicious toward blacks and females who will not toe the party line but dare to stray from the p.c. reservation.

The Left in 2018: Utterly Unhinged

"The GOP has an effective campaign ad using Democrats' own words and actions against them."  A bit longer than a minute.

My hope is that the Dems, now a full-tilt hard-Left party, will get clobbered in the mid-terms.  If they don't, then we are on the way to civil war.

Never underestimate the value of civil order. We take it for granted, but it is very fragile, and the skills necessary for survival in a war zone are not quickly acquired.  The prospect of a 'new normal' in which every couple of weeks there is an assassination or bombing is not a cheerful one.

He who sows the wind may reap the whirlwind. (Hosea 8:7) Somebody ought to get that message to Maxine Waters, the black woman in the video.  Conservative patience with leftist tantrums can be expected eventually to run out. The backlash will not be pretty.

Among Hillary's 'deplorables' are a lot of 'hard boys,' bikers, ex-military and ex- law enforcement who are prepared to break heads should push come to shove, and shove come to shoot.  They may prove hard to control if all hell breaks loose.

So be careful, 'liberals.' You may trigger the very fascism that you falsely accuse conservatives of espousing.

For when civil order collapses the people will demand its replacement.

The wise hope for the best but prepare for the worst.

……………………………..

UPDATE: I just listened to the ad again. Was that "feckless cunts" I heard at .38? Being black or female won't save you from the wrath of the Left if you stray from the politically correct reservation.

UPDATE (2 July). Chris Cathcart writes,

Maybe you were unplugged at the time so you're now just hearing about this one.  Here's the fuller quote from Samantha Bee; somehow the furor was only over the c-word and not also what she said after that:

“Ivanka Trump, who works at the White House, chose to post the second most oblivious tweet we’ve seen this week,” Bee said. “You know, Ivanka, that’s a beautiful photo of you and your child, but let me just say, one mother to another, do something about your dad’s immigration practices you feckless cunt!”

“He listens to you,” she continued. “Put on something tight and low-cut and tell your father to fucking stop it. Tell him it was an Obama thing and see how it goes, OK?”
