Nelson had never been a bold<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: georgia,palatino;\">&#0160;&#0160;&#0160;&#0160; innovator like the early singers who sang like they were navigating<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: georgia,palatino;\">&#0160;&#0160;&#0160;&#0160; burning ships. He didn&#39;t sing desperately, do a lot of damage, and<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: georgia,palatino;\">&#0160;&#0160;&#0160;&#0160; you&#39;d never mistake him for a shaman.&#0160;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia,palatino;\">Nosiree, Bob, no shaman was he. There is more interesting material on Nelson in the vicinity of this excerpt. Dylan discusses Ricky Nelson in connection with his 1961 hit, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=k0vFdCdNQP4\" target=\"_self\">Travelin&#39; Man<\/a>. But the great guitar work of James Burton to which Dylan alludes was much more in evidence in<a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ZSoKUm8WsKs\" target=\"_self\"> Hello Mary Lou<\/a>. The Dylan Chronicles look like they will hold the interest of this old 60&#39;s Dylan fanatic.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia,palatino;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=sk28kAdCmz4\" target=\"_self\">Here<\/a> is a better taste of James Burton and his Fender Telecaster with E. P.&#0160; And <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=_PLq0_7k1jk\" target=\"_self\">here<\/a>&#0160;he is with the Big O dueling with Springsteen.&#0160; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=BnkCxcStvIA\" target=\"_self\">Here<\/a>&#0160;he jams&#0160;with Nelson&#39;s sons.&#0160; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=MNe_3MlfHsI\" target=\"_self\">Orbison<\/a> on Nelson.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia,palatino;\">It has been over twenty five years now since Nelson <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=_028-y_ijY8\" target=\"_self\">died in a plane crash<\/a> while touring. The plane, purchased from Jerry Lee Lewis, went down on New Year&#39;s Eve 1985. That travelin&#39; man died with his boots on &#8212; as I suspect he would have wanted to.
