{"id":7533,"date":"2014-12-08T12:59:52","date_gmt":"2014-12-08T12:59:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/maverickphilosopher.blog\/index.php\/2014\/12\/08\/john-lennon-34-years-later\/"},"modified":"2014-12-08T12:59:52","modified_gmt":"2014-12-08T12:59:52","slug":"john-lennon-34-years-later","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/maverickphilosopher.blog\/index.php\/2014\/12\/08\/john-lennon-34-years-later\/","title":{"rendered":"John Lennon 34 Years Later"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia;\">John Lennon was gunned down this night in 1980 by <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mark_David_Chapman\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia;\">Mark David Chapman.<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Georgia;\"> I remember that night well: a student of mine called me in the middle of it to report the slaying.&#0160; Lennon was my least favorite Beatle due to his silly utopianism, as expressed in the lyrically inane &#39;Imagine,&#39;&#0160; but <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=suuU3mliNo8&amp;feature=related\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia;\">this tune of his<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Georgia;\"> from the 1965<em> Rubber Soul<\/em> album is a gem, and more than fit to remember him by.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia;\">And I believe he penned <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=tisjsgsgtZU\" target=\"_self\">Tomorrow Never Knows<\/a> from the <em>Revolver<\/em> album, the best song I know of about meditation.&#0160; It gives me goose bumps still, almost 50 years later.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>John Lennon was gunned down this night in 1980 by Mark David Chapman.
