When I say they\u2019ve since embraced the left, I don\u2019t mean they pay lip service to the issues; they full-throatedly advocate for them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: 12pt;\">Reason, another libertarian think tank (the Reason Foundation) and magazine, is now an outpost dedicated in large part to advocating for prostitution. Don\u2019t take my word for it,&#0160;<a href=\"https:\/\/reason.com\/category\/nanny-state\/prostitution\/\">take a look for yourself<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: 12pt;\">The Libertarian Party hasn\u2019t been relevant since the 1980 election, when John Anderson pulled the all-time high of 6.6 percent of the vote. Since then, Libertarians have nominated a series of former politicians and clowns, culminating in Chase Oliver, a left-wing open borders advocate whose only political experience was being a rounding error in a Georgia House race&#0160;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/2020_Georgia%27s_5th_congressional_district_special_election\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">in 2020<\/a>&#0160;and Senate race&#0160;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/2022_United_States_Senate_election_in_Georgia\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">in 2022<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: 12pt;\">Oliver,&#0160;<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/libsoftiktok\/status\/1795110029890076748\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">who is gay<\/a>, supports&#0160;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ebar.com\/story.php?ch=news&amp;sc=news&amp;id=327773\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the right of biological males to compete<\/a>&#0160;in girls\u2019 and women\u2019s sports, wants your children exposed to&#0160;<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/derekahunter\/status\/1795151136640434517\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">drag queens<\/a>&#0160;at local libraries, and enthusiastically supports ranked-choice voting in elections. That\u2019s a long way from the priorities of the old Libertarian Party, which focused mostly on economic theory, limiting government, and staying out of war.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: 12pt;\">Today, libertarians are those people I saw cheering Obama\u2019s win.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: 12pt;\">After Oliver\u2019s nomination, the Cato Institute\u2019s homepage asked, \u201cWhat\u2019s Donald Trump Doing at the Libertarian Party Convention?\u201d The&#0160;<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/derekahunter\/status\/1795488765496226064\">sub-headline on their homepage read<\/a>, \u201cThe Libertarian Party has always stood for personal liberty, economic liberty, and constitutional rights, but the most prominent speaker at its convention opposes all those things. Why are they doing it?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: 12pt;\">On what planet is Donald Trump \u201copposed\u201d to personal or economic liberty and constitutional rights?<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Here: We were also witnessing the end of the pure libertarian movement.
