{"id":6444,"date":"2016-05-10T13:04:10","date_gmt":"2016-05-10T13:04:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/maverickphilosopher.blog\/index.php\/2016\/05\/10\/erich-przywara-analogia-entis-notes-on-section-1\/"},"modified":"2016-05-10T13:04:10","modified_gmt":"2016-05-10T13:04:10","slug":"erich-przywara-analogia-entis-notes-on-section-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/maverickphilosopher.blog\/index.php\/2016\/05\/10\/erich-przywara-analogia-entis-notes-on-section-1\/","title":{"rendered":"Erich Przywara, <i>Analogia Entis<\/i>"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Analogia-Entis-Metaphysics-Structure-Resourcement\/dp\/0802868592\/ref=la_B0034NQXW4_1_1?s=books&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1398643797&amp;sr=1-1\" target=\"_self\">The book<\/a> has been recently translated. &#0160;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino;\">Unfortunately, I find myself in agreement with <a href=\"http:\/\/sancrucensis.wordpress.com\/2014\/01\/28\/josef-pieper-on-erich-przywara\/\" target=\"_self\">Josef Pieper<\/a> as to the &#39;unreadibility&#39; of the book: &quot;The unfinished, and hardly readable book, <em>Analogia Entis<\/em> (1932), which he himself declares is the quintessence of his view, in fact gives no idea of the wealth of concrete material he spread out before us in those days.&quot;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino;\">Of course, the book is not strictly unreadable: I am reading it and getting something out of it.&#0160;&#0160; But it has many of the faults of Continental writing and old-time scholastic writing.&#0160;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino;\">To make a really good philosopher you need to start with someone possessing a love of truth, spiritual depth, metaphysical aptitude, and historical erudition. Then some nuts-and-bolts analyst needs to beat on him with the logic stick until he can express himself clearly and precisely. &#0160;Such a thrashing would have done gentlemen such as E. Gilson and J. Maritain a world of good.
