{"id":6370,"date":"2016-06-13T14:13:12","date_gmt":"2016-06-13T14:13:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/maverickphilosopher.blog\/index.php\/2016\/06\/13\/the-sense-that-nothing-matters\/"},"modified":"2016-06-13T14:13:12","modified_gmt":"2016-06-13T14:13:12","slug":"the-sense-that-nothing-matters","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/maverickphilosopher.blog\/index.php\/2016\/06\/13\/the-sense-that-nothing-matters\/","title":{"rendered":"The Sense That Nothing Matters"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino;\">Many are tempted by the thought that nothing ultimately matters, and in some this thought becomes an oppressive mood that paralyzes and renders life unlivable.&#0160; Leo Tolstoy&#39;s &quot;My Confession&quot; is perhaps the best expression of this dark and oppressive nihilism.&#0160; But the sense that nothing matters contains an insight which is as it were the silver lining of the dark cloud of nihilism.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino;\">The insight is that nothing finite is truly satisfactory, worthy of our ultimate concern, or finally real.
