Per Democratic strategist <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/james-carville\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"James Carville\">James Carville<\/a>,&#0160;\u201cIt\u2019s the one question that you exist to answer, all right? That is it. That\u2019s the money question. That\u2019s the one you want. That\u2019s the one that everybody wants to know the answer to. And you freeze, you literally freeze, and you say, \u2018Well, I can\u2019t think of anything,&#39;\u201d he said in a postelection analysis.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: 14pt;\">Is my annoyance misplaced?&#0160; I love the English language, my beloved mother tongue, and it angers me when people misuse and maltreat her. But in this case I may have overreacted.&#0160; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.merriam-webster.com\/dictionary\/as%20per\">Merriam Webster<\/a>:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: 13pt;\">The fact is that both&#0160;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.merriam-webster.com\/dictionary\/per\"><em>per<\/em><\/a>&#0160;and&#0160;<em>as per<\/em>&#0160;have existed in English in the sense \u201caccording to\u201d for a very long time\u2013since the 15th and 16th centuries, respectively. The choice of which to use (or avoid) is entirely a matter of taste. The more ponderous&#0160;<em>as per<\/em> is often found in business and legal prose, or in writing that attempts to adopt a formal tone.
