Appreciation is conservative.&#0160; Scratch a leftist and likely as not you&#39;ll find a nihilist,&#0160; a denier of the value of what <em>is<\/em>, a hankerer after what is&#0160;<em>not<\/em>, and in too many cases, what is impossible.&#0160;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: georgia, palatino;\">Even the existence of leftists is something to be grateful for.&#0160; They mark out paths not to be trodden.&#0160; And their foibles provide&#0160; plenty of blog fodder.&#0160; For example, there is the curious phenomenon of <a href=\"https:\/\/maverickphilosopher.typepad.com\/maverick_philosopher\/2009\/03\/hypocrisy-in-reverse.html\" target=\"_self\">hypocrisy-in-reverse<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Happy Thanksgiving to all my Stateside readers.
