Another Londoner is Helen Shapiro who does <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=LfQ00tLYSPw\">a great version<\/a> of \u2018It might as well rain until September.\u2019 &#0160;Great alto voice, never made it in the US as far as I know. There is an&#0160; account of her conversion to Christianity&#0160;<a href=\"https:\/\/mustardseedbudget.wordpress.com\/2015\/10\/07\/helen-shapiro-star-from-yesteryear-comes-to-christ-out-of-judaism\/\">here<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: 13pt;\">I was first hipped to Shearing by Kerouac who&#0160;<a href=\"https:\/\/thingsthatmadeanimpression.wordpress.com\/2014\/03\/31\/excerpt-from-on-the-road-by-jack-kerouac-shearing\/comment-page-1\/\">referred to him<\/a>&#0160;in&#0160;<em>On the Road<\/em>.&#0160; I too love the &#39;Bird&#39;-like flights on the piano. The allusion is to Charley &#39;Bird&#39; Parker, also beloved of Kerouac.&#0160; Helen Shapiro is new to me, thanks. She does a great job with the Carole King composition.&#0160; Believe it or not, King&#39;s version is a&#0160;<em>demo<\/em>. That&#39;s one hell of a demo.
