Anyone who opposes said penalty <em>in principle<\/em> I consider morally obtuse.&#0160; As for Mangione, he deserves it. The editors of the <em>Boston Herald<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bostonherald.com\/2025\/04\/02\/editorial-dont-make-luigi-mangione-a-martyr\/\">demur<\/a>:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: 14pt;\">The death penalty should be off the table for Luigi Mangione, accused killer of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. And not for any reason sympathetic to Mangione.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: 14pt;\">Attaching the death penalty to Mangione\u2019s trial would only make a martyr out of an accused killer who has already inspired zealous support among legions of fans.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: 14pt;\">Tell me what you think of this sort of moral reasoning.
