His interest, for which I am grateful, inspired me to thoroughly re-think and re-work it. It is now tighter, cleaner, and better organized, and to be found at the <a href=\"https:\/\/open.substack.com\/pub\/williamfvallicella\/p\/weils-wager?r=f3tzc&amp;utm_campaign=post&amp;utm_medium=web&amp;showWelcomeOnShare=true\">top<\/a> of the <em>Stack<\/em>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><em>In her\u00a0<\/em>New York Notebook<em>\u00a0from 1942, Simone Weil presents an argument which she claims \u201c\u2026is greatly preferable to Pascal\u2019s wager.\u201d[i] One of her commentators agrees, finding her argument \u201cobviously both morally and intellectually\u201d superior to Pascal\u2019s.[ii] I will call this argument \u201cWeil\u2019s Wager.\u201d As far as I know, it has yet to be subjected to a close examination.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Karl White tells me he looked for this old essay of mine but couldn&#8217;t find it.
