He <a href=\"http:\/\/www2.macleans.ca\/2009\/09\/24\/dislike-obama-you-must-be-racist\/2\/\">cites<\/a> one Melissa Harris-Lacewell, professor of African-American studies at Princeton,&#0160;who proffered the contemptible inanity that &#0160;\u201clanguage of personal responsibility is often a code language used against poor and minority communities.\u201d&#0160; Steyn comments:<\/font><\/p>\n<blockquote dir=\"ltr\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><font face=\"Georgia\">\u201cPersonal responsibility\u201d is racial code language? Phew, thank goodness America is belatedly joining Canada and Europe in all but abolishing the concept.<\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><font face=\"Georgia\">\u201cCode language\u201d is code language for \u201ctotal bollocks.\u201d \u201cCode word\u201d is a code word for \u201cI\u2019m inventing what you really meant to say because the actual quote doesn\u2019t quite do the job for me.\u201d \u201cSmall government\u201d? Racist code words! \u201cNon-confiscatory taxes\u201d? Likewise. \u201cIndividual liberty\u201d? Don\u2019t even go there! To an incisive NPR racism analyst, the elderly gentleman telling his congressman \u201cI\u2019m very concerned by what I\u2019ve heard about wait times for MRIs in Canada\u201d is really saying \u201cI\u2019m unable to overcome my deep-seated racial anxieties about the sexual prowess of black males, especially now they\u2019re giving prime-time press conferences every night.\u201d With interpreters like professor Harris-Lacewell on the prowl, I\u2019m confident 95 per cent of Webster\u2019s will eventually be ruled \u201ccode language.\u201d<\/font><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify\"><font face=\"Georgia\">Enjoy Steyn&#39;s brilliance <\/font><a href=\"http:\/\/www2.macleans.ca\/2009\/09\/24\/dislike-obama-you-must-be-racist\/2\/\"><font face=\"Georgia\">in its entirety.<\/font><\/a><font face=\"Georgia\">&#0160;<\/font><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify\"><font face=\"Georgia\"><\/font>&#0160;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Thank God for Mark Steyn, a man of intelligence and courage and a resolute foe of liberal-left idiocies.
