{"id":11907,"date":"2010-01-20T05:03:27","date_gmt":"2010-01-20T05:03:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/maverickphilosopher.blog\/index.php\/2010\/01\/20\/balik-bastan-kokar\/"},"modified":"2010-01-20T05:03:27","modified_gmt":"2010-01-20T05:03:27","slug":"balik-bastan-kokar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/maverickphilosopher.blog\/index.php\/2010\/01\/20\/balik-bastan-kokar\/","title":{"rendered":"Bal\u0131k ba\u015ftan kokar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"TEXT-ALIGN: justify\"><font face=\"Georgia\"><strong>Bal\u0131k ba\u015ftan kokar<\/strong> is Turkish for &quot;The fish stinks from the head.&quot;&#0160; Quite apropos&#0160;of the Obama administration the corruption, incompetence, and stupidity&#0160;of which boggles the mind. <\/font><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailybeast.com\/blogs-and-stories\/2010-01-19\/hes-done-everything-wrong\/?cid=bs:archive3\"><font face=\"Georgia\">He&#39;s done everything wrong.<\/font><\/a><font face=\"Georgia\">&#0160; But there is hope: Obama&#39;s fiscal irresponsibility and liberty-destroying socialist&#0160;malfeasance has suffered a massive rebuke in, of all places, the People&#39;s Republic of Taxachusetts.<\/font><a href=\"http:\/\/hosted.ap.org\/dynamic\/files\/elections\/2010\/by_county\/MA_US_Senate_0119.html?SITE=AP&amp;SECTION=POLITICS\"><font face=\"Georgia\">&#0160;Here<\/font><\/a><font face=\"Georgia\"> are the precinct-by-precinct statistics of Brown&#39;s win over Coakley in the Bay State.&#0160; (Perhaps it should be called the Pay State.) &#0160;The results for Cambridge precinct show a whopping 84% for Coakley (DEM) and a paltry 15% for Brown (GOP).&#0160; No surprise there, of course.&#0160; You know what Cambridge is home to. <\/font><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"TEXT-ALIGN: justify\"><font face=\"Georgia\">By the way, I loved my years in Boston-Cambridge.&#0160; Boston was my Mecca, the hub of the universe.&#0160; But I was a young guy, liberal as the young are wont to be, who hadn&#39;t yet thought hard and long and in an experience-informed way about political and social questions.&#0160; I owned nothing and I paid no taxes.&#0160; Quite the contrary: I received food stamps.&#0160; I was scraping by on a very low stipend in a very expensive city.&#0160; So I applied for, and received, public assistance.&#0160; I had no qualms about doing so at the time.&#0160; The food stamps allowed me to quit my awful and dangerous job as taxi driver.&#0160; (The only thing worse than a Boston driver is a Turkish driver.) &#0160;I used my time well and kept my nose to the philosophy grindstone.&#0160; But the point is that I was able-bodied and should not have been allowed on welfare.&#0160; Welfare programs breed dependency and lack of self-reliance, among other ills &#8212; which is not to say that there should be no such programs.<\/font><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bal\u0131k ba\u015ftan kokar is Turkish for &quot;The fish stinks from the head.&quot;&#0160; Quite apropos&#0160;of the Obama administration the corruption, incompetence, and stupidity&#0160;of which boggles the mind.
